Left Adelaide 8.30 Saturday and travelled to Riverton for morning coffee stop at the old railway station and a brief opportunity to inspect it. Then to Mintaro for a bus tour of the town led by John Hawke, followed by a visit to Martindale Hall. Lunch at John Smith’s café in Mintaro. Then to Terowie for afternoon tea, a short talk about the virtual ghost town and a bus tour around it. Ross Humphris of the Jamestown NT then came on board and gave us a commentary as we drove to Jamestown for the night. Dinner was at the Belalie Brook Restaurant and was followed by an audio visual presentation about the Bundaleer Forest. On Sunday a bus tour of the Jamestown area led by Allan Palmer and a visit to the NT Museum in the old railway station. Then to the Bundaleer Forest for a picnic lunch followed by a tour through the forest led by Ross Humphris. Then to Gladstone to visit the old gaol (some members did a walk about the town instead), and to Crystal Brook to see the old homestead in Bowman Park. Afternoon tea was also provided. Then back to Burnside with quick afternoon tea stop at Port Wakefield. Back by 7.15 pm. Outlined first by Edna Bayfield and then brought into effect and led by Richard House (Burnside Historical Society Treasurer).
