Left Adelaide 5.30 Friday night to arrive at Naracoorte at about 1015 and stay two nights at the William MacIntock Motel . Some people had to spend the first night at The Country Roads Motel. Saturday morning walking tour of Penola led by Claire Larkin followed by talk on Mary McKillop and visit to Mary MacKillop Museum. The browse time followed by lunch at country property of Peter Rymill. (It was supposed to have been on the lawn but rain kept us indoors.) Afternoon bus tour of Naracoorte area led by Peter Rymill and Margaret Muller with a lot of emphasis on local poets – Adam Lindsay Gordon, Will Ogilvie and Shaw Neilson. Visit to Yallum Park and Rymill’s winery. Sunday morning, tour of Naracoorte Fossil Cave, and visit to Struan stately home. Lunch at Sheep’s Back Museum organised by National Trust followed by visit to museum and bus tour of Naracoorte area led by Judy Murdoch of National Trust. Departure 3.30 and quick drop in to Padthaway (stately home now B & B). Back by 9.00 pm. Outlined first by Alan Cross and then brought into effect and led by Richard House (BHS Treasurer).
