Seymour College’s Centenary
Presented by Dr Geoffrey Bishop
This is one of Adelaide’s oldest Colleges founded in February 1922 at the Crossing family home ‘Wotton Lea’ on Portrush Road. Originally it was called the Presbyterian Girls’ College.
Dr Geoffrey Bishop has a background in horticulture and viticultural/wine-making history and has published extensively in both areas. He has also researched the history of the East Torrens district of the Adelaide Hills where his family has been involved in fruit-growing since 1854.
His involvement with Seymour College arose from his mother being an Old Collegian and a good friend of the then archivist, Margaret Macdonald. He commenced research for a centenary history in October 2017 and completed it in February of this year despite the many changes of plans caused by the Covid-19 epidemic.
