The Queen Adelaide Society Inc
Presented by Triss and Paul Roberts
Queen Adelaide, a German Princess, married William, Duke of Clarence, in England. Their family died in infancy, but Adelaide loved children and donated time and money to assist those in need. It was never expected that William would accede to the Throne, but on the death of his brother, George 1V, he became King and Adelaide his Queen Consort. During his short reign the first settlers were arriving in South Australia and King William granted permission for the new City to be named “Adelaide”. The Queen Adelaide Society in Adelaide was formed in 1981 to promote knowledge of Queen Adelaide and to make annual donations to charity.
Triss Roberts is a Foundation Member and Honorary Life Member of The Queen Adelaide Society. She has held the offices of Vice-President and President and has been promoting the work of the Society for over a decade. Paul Roberts is also an Honorary Life Member of the Society and a past Committee member.
